14 COVID-19 deaths reported in SD Friday; active cases continue downward trend

Fourteen COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday. The statewide total is now 2802.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 3 to 172. Six new cases reported Friday, raising the total to 8061. Recovered cases are at 7839. There have been 50 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 308 to 5348. Total cases increase by 136 to 235787. There are 227,637 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 8 to 171.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-eight percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
