Brookings driver crashes into house
A Brookings man is facing several charges after crashing his car into a house.
Police Sergeant Joel Perry says it was reported about 7:30 Friday evening. He says the car was driving at high speed on First Street and was unable to turn when he came to the T intersection with 16th Avenue. The car went straight, up three concrete steps and hit the house, pushing in the wall and causing extensive damage.
The driver fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance from the scene.
The 19-year-old male driver is facing charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, underage consumption, hit and run and no insurance.
There is not yet a damage estimate. There were no injuries.
