Brookings health System named 5-star hospital

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has given Brookings Hospital an overall five-star rating, the highest possible score.

Brookings Health System Quality Director Emily Delbridge says this has been their goal since the rating system began seven years ago. Only 10.4% of the more than 4,600 hospitals across the country received a five-star rating this year.

CMS’s ratings are based on five publicly-reported metrics: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care. CMS publishes the data to help Medicare beneficiaries and their families make informed decisions about where to seek health care.
