Brookings man charged with kidnapping and assault
A Brookings man is facing kidnapping and other charges after allegedly holding a woman against her will.
Police were called at about 9:30 Thursday night for a welfare check at a residence on the 1000 block of Western Avenue.
Detective Adam Smith says police found that a 39-year-old Sioux Falls woman had been held at the residence for a couple of days and had been assaulted. She was punched and choked and suffered facial injuries. She was taken by ambulance to the Brookings hospital and was treated for her injuries.
A 59-year-old male who lives at the residence was also assaulted and was treated on scene for minor injuries.
Police arrested 42-year-old Dayzsha Bordeaux and he has been charged with aggravated kidnapping in the 2nd degree, aggravated domestic assault and two counts of simple assault domestic.
Bordeaux’s mother, 66-year-old Lorna Dean was also arrested and is accused of being an accessory to the crimes.
The female victim was found to have an outstanding warrant and was also arrested.
