Chip sealing set for later this week in SW part of Brookings

A number of streets in the southwest part of Brookings will undergo chip seal surfacing starting Thursday, weather permitting.

The focuas this year is streets located west of Medary Avenue South, south of Eighth Street South and north of 20th Street South. The project is expected to take one week. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed.

Residents and visitors in the chip seal project area should watch for and follow temporary ‘no parking’ signs on the boulevards. Parking will be temporarily prohibited from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the streets within the chip seal project area. That will remain in place until the street has been covered with rock.

Motorists in the area are encouraged to drive slowly and be aware of equipment, trucks and work crews. Bicyclists and motorcyclists should exercise extreme caution when using these streets.
