Fire on Christmas Eve morning damages Sinai house

The Sinai and Volga Fire Departments and Brookings County Sheriff’s Department all responded to a Christmas Eve morning house fire in Sinai.
The fire was reported at about 4:40 am on the 24th on the 300 block of South 4th Street in Sinai.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a wall behind a wood stove used to heat the home had started on fire. The fire was extinguished by the homeowner and neighbor prior to the fire departments arriving.
The damage to the home is estimated at $5,000.
