Four arrests made in connection to Brookings car burglaries
Brookings Police report three juvenile males and one adult female have been arrested for their involvement in recent motor vehicle thefts.
Detective Adam Smith says several searches were conducted at residences in Brookings and Brookings County. On Thursday, detectives recovered a stolen pistol. Two 15-year-old males and a 13-year-old male were taken into custody.
On Friday, a search warrant was conducted at a residence in the 1000 block of Castlewood Drive. Detectives recovered a second stolen handgun along with a Springfield XD-9 handgun which had not been reported stolen. Thirty-Nine year old Heather McBride was arrested at the residence for possession of stolen property, aiding or abetting a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and ingestion of a controlled substance.
A stolen .22 pistol remains unaccounted for.
On May 1st, Brookings police responded to a vehicle theft on Heritage Drive and found that about 40 vehicles had been entered in that area with several items reported stolen.
