Inmate found dead at Minnehaha County jail

An inmate has died at the Minnehaha County Jail.
The 41-year-old Minnesota woman was found unresponsive in her cell at about 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon.
Life saving efforts were performed by both jail staff and paramedics, but they were unsuccessful.
The woman was booked earlier that day on several charges including driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and Ingestion.
The cause of death will be determined by the County Coroner while the investigation into the death has been handed over to the state Division of Criminal Investigation.
