Man drowns while ice fishing in Clark County

A man has drowned while ice fishing on a lake in Clark County.

Sheriff Robert McGraw says authorities were called to Dry Lake #2 Wednesday morning to look for a man who’d gone fishing there Tuesday night but didn’t return home. It’s located about four miles north of Willow Lake.

McGraw says debris was found floating in a large area of open water on the north end of the lake. That’s where divers concentrated their search.

A remote camera was used to find the man’s snowmobile and his body was recovered at about 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.

McGraw says the victim is from the Hitchcock area and was in his 60’s. His name has not been released.

McGraw says it appears the man became disoriented in foggy conditions and drove the snowmobile into open water.

Several agencies took part in the search.
