Man sentenced to jail for improper disposal of a body at a Mitchell truck stop

A Detroit, Michigan man has been sentenced to 360 days in jail for the improper disposal of a body in Mitchell.

Sixty-year-old Anthony Harris on Friday pled guilty and was sentenced in Davison County Court.

He was initially charged with both Second-Degree Murder and Improper Disposal of a Body in the death of 57-year-old Melody Fae Gooch, also of Detroit.

The final autopsy report indicated that the cause of death was an accidental drug overdose, and that the death did not occur in South Dakota. The autopsy also indicated the blunt force injuries sustained by Gooch when she was run over at the truck stop did not occur while she was alive.

Michigan state officials will now decide if Harris will face additional charges in that state.
