BROOKINGS (9-24-26) — Utility rates in Brookings are set to increase next year.
Brookings City Council Member Bonny Specker is an ex officio member of the city utility board… “There will be a 3.5 percent proposed increase in electric rates, and a four percent in both water and wastewater with no increases in telephone. The rates are close to or lower than comparable communities. There is a public hearing on rate increases that will take place October 13 at 1 p.m. at the BMU administrative offices.”
Specker’s comments came at this week’s city council meeting.
