Valarie Falken
Valarie Falken is a Brookings “double whammy” having been both a Bobcat and a Jackrabbit. She has a Communication Studies and Theatre degree from SDSU and has performed on stages around the country, from Maine to California. She returned to Brookings during the pandemic and began recording audiobooks, which kickstarted a love of performing behind a mic. In 2022, she started a children’s entertainment business, B-Town Bubbles, which teaches kids all about the soapy science behind bubbles and gives Val the opportunity to keep performing live. She is thrilled to be a part of the Brookings Radio family! You can hear her “Morning Show Blend” weekday mornings on B93.7FM.

“Bald” Bob Wayne
Bob started with Brookings Radio on July 1, 1991, working the afternoon drive on B-93.7. After 13 years in that position, a morning position on KBRK AM became available. Bob grew up listening to AM radio and thought it would be a good fit. Now, all these years later, he is grateful to still be on the air, playing great music while serving the community that he loves. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family including his brood of grandchildren that he adores. Beth, his wife of 50 years, and he live on an acreage, where he enjoys gardening, tinkering in the garage, motorcycling, reading and listening to music. “I am grateful for the rich full life I’ve been blessed with.” – “Bald” Bob

Mr. Quinn likes to say he has “a face for radio and a voice for the newspaper”. After all these years, he’s still bringing his personality, humor and love of radio to Brookings listeners every morning!

Barry Hein
Barry was born and raised in De Smet (GO DAWGS!!!) where he played basketball, football, baseball & ran track growing up. After high school, he went to SDSU his freshman year and redshirted on the football team. Due to a lack of maturity and responsibility, Barry had to make the tough decision to transfer to Black Hills State University after that disastrous (academically) freshman year (fun though!) where he majored in Broadcasting. Following college, he moved to Minneapolis to find a job in radio. He found one in St. Cloud, MN and worked there from 2001-2006. He then got a job with the same company in Grand Forks, ND and worked there from 2006-2009.
He wanted to be closer to home so he got a job with Watertown Radio and stayed there from 2009-2012. St. Cloud wanted him back so went there again from 2012-2022. He finally wanted to come back home again so he reached out to Cami Powers and she just happened to have an opening so he’s been here at Brookings Radio since 2022. Barry is a true product of this area and loves being here. It’s home. A special thanks to all you who’ve made it that for him. Barry is our Sports Director and does all the play by play for the Brookings High School Bobcats.

Lyn Fergen
You can’t think about radio in Brookings without thinking about the one and only Lyn Fergen—better known over the years as Lipstick, Lippy, Lynny-Lou, and now, Nana. Lyn has been a beloved staple of the Brookings radio scene since the 1990s. She has helped numerous clients over the years grow their business through her great ideas and unbeatable customer service. She may have come and gone from radio sales a few times but has always found her way back to the career she’s devoted most of her life to.
Lyn loves what she does and it shows from the many clients and co-workers that have become some of her best friends. She loves to entertain (even though she will tell you that she’s tired), makes a mean homemade potato salad, and loves to find and share new recipe ideas. When she’s not socializing, Lyn loves to binge watch Netflix and Hallmark Christmas movies, spend time with her grandchildren, hang out at her sisters lake cabin and decorate.
Lyn is fortunate enough to be close to her three grown children – Sunni Lyn who owns The Hair Studio right here in Brookings, Cole that lives right next door with his wife Erica and their twins along with Conner, his wife Sadie and their two boys that live just down the road in Sioux Falls. Everyone needs a Lyn Fergen on their team!
