BROOKINGS COUNTY (9-22-26) — A Bruce, SD man is arrested following a brief pursuit.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report shortly before 5:30 p.m. on September 21 of a driver shouting at traffic while traveling west on Highway 14 between Brookings and Volga.
Sheriff’s deputies say another motorist had reported that at one point the man had stopped at the Caspian Avenue stop light, exited his vehicle and retrieved what appeared to be a weapon.
When deputies arrived and tried to stop the man, he fled north on 466th Avenue eventually stopping at his residence on 207th Street.
Sheriff’s deputies say 31-year old Skyler Leiferman of Bruce, SD was arrested after a struggle and charged with Eluding, DUI, Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest.
The sheriff’s office says Leiferman is being held at the Brookings County Detention Center on a $3,000 cash-only bond.
