BROOKINGS (9-24-26) — Nominations are being sought for a new award recognizing outstanding local kids.
Kirsten Gjesdal updated the City Council about it at this week’s meeting… “The Brookings Youth Impact Award recognizes students in grades 6-12 who make a positive difference in the lives of others in our community. This award celebrates youth who demonstrate qualities of kindness, leadership, responsibility, perseverance, service, inclusion and positive character.”
She said they’ll give out three awards per quarter… “Nominees can be from any school district or homeschooled in the Brookings area, and again it’s designed for those youth grades 6-12.”
Nominations are open now… “So I encourage any of our community members to nominate students by visiting https://brookingsunitedway.org/CTC — that stands for Communities That Care. It has a link to the nomination form on there, and we will begin reviewing in few weeks so be sure to submit by September 30.”
She said they hope to recognize outstanding local kids who are making a difference in the community.
