Rural Shed Fire Causes $23K Damage

BROOKINGS COUNTY (10-5-26) — Fire destroys a shed in rural Brookings County

It was reported Sunday, October 4 shortly after 6:15 p.m. The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office and the White Fire Department were dispatched to a residence on 202nd Street near 475th Avenue.

Crews arrived to find a 40 foot by 24 foot shed full engulfed in flames. The resident said a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a Hustler zero-turn mower, and Polaris ATV and several smaller pieces of equipment were inside the shed at the time. The sheriff’s office estimates total damage at $23 thousand.

The cause of the blaze remains unknown. The incident is under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
