BROOKINGS (11-2-26) — The South Dakota Art Museum invites the public to “An Evening of Music and Poetry with Curious Music Collective” on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The event begins with refreshments at 5:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 6:30 p.m.
Presented in conjunction with the museum’s exhibition “America in Art,” the evening celebrates the role of local stories, creative expression and community voices in shaping our understanding of the American experience.
The program will feature Curious Music Collective, a Sioux Falls-based chamber music ensemble, performing musical compositions alongside South Dakota State University students reading their original poetry. Together, the musicians and poets will create a dialogue between music and the written word, offering audiences a collaborative artistic experience.
Curious Music Collective members include Zach Van Harris Jr., Yi-Chun Lin and Lawrence Diggs, among others.
“Just as ‘America in Art’ explores the perspectives that contribute to our understanding of the American experience, this event celebrates the creativity and voices found within our own communities,” South Dakota Art Museum Director Donna Merkt said. “By bringing together musicians and student poets, the program reflects how local experiences and personal stories enrich the broader cultural narrative of our nation.”
