BROOKINGS, S.D. (9-14-26) — The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts announces the 2026-27 University Chamber Music Series, a four‑concert season bringing exceptional national artists to Brookings for intimate performances at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
All concerts are free and open to the public, continuing the school’s commitment to high‑quality musical experiences for the Brookings community.
The season opens on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. with Andrew Schaeffer performing on the Founders Recital Hall organ. Schaeffer has performed widely across the Midwest and serves as organist at Luther Memorial Church in Madison, Wisconsin. His recital will showcase the expressive range of this magnificent instrument.
On Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2:30 p.m., Michael Yeung will perform a recital of works for marimba. Yeung is a recent winner of the New York City-based Young Concert Artist competition and is quickly developing an international reputation for his dynamic solo and chamber performances.
The series continues Saturday, Feb. 13, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. with the ~Nois Saxophone Quartet, a Chicago‑based ensemble celebrated for its adventurous programming and energetic stage presence. ~Nois will bring a contemporary edge to the season with a performance that blends precision, humor and innovation.
The final concert of the season presents Chelsea Guo, piano and soprano, on Sunday, April 4, 2027, at 2:30 p.m. Guo is internationally acclaimed for her rare dual artistry, earning recognition from BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone and Classic FM.
