BROOKINGS, S.D. (9-25-26) — Michael Walsh, professor of clarinet at South Dakota State University, will present a recital of music for the clarinet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

In celebration of America 250, the concert features music by American composers.

Assisting Walsh are Xuan Kuang, piano; Anna DeGraff, mezzo soprano, voice; and Corey Shelsta on guitar and banjo. Featured in the recital will be the world premiere performance of “Home” by Nicole Chamberlain. The work is inspired by the Harvey Dunn prairie-themed artwork that captures the physical labor, emotional weight and quiet dignity of building a home and family on the 19th-century South Dakota frontier.

The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend. For more information, contact the SDSU School of Performing Arts at 605-688-5187.
