One person killed in motorcycle/minivan collision near Madison

One person died late Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash seven miles southeast of Madison.

The names of those involved have not been released pending notification of family.

According to the South Dakota Highway patrol, a minivan was traveling north on Highway 19 and had slowed to turn left onto 241st Street. A northbound motorcycle was behind the minivan. As it was turning, the motorcycle collided with the rear driver side door. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and was struck by the Honda. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch.

The male motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at an area hospital. He was wearing a helmet.

The female driver of the minvan received minor injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
