HURON – The Brookings cross country teams ran in the Roger Loecker Invitational last week ahead of State Meet.
The Brookings girls finished in second as a team and the boys came in third.
The Bobcats will compete in the Class AA State Meet in Rapid City at Hart Ranch on Saturday. The boys race is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time and the girls race will follow.
Girls
The Bobcat girls came in second with 66 points. Tea Area won the meet with 34 points. Aberdeen Central came in third (78), Pierre came in fourth (85), Huron finished in fifth (115) and Yankton rounded out the field in sixth (137).
Rykr Billings led the ‘Cats with second place finish. She had a time of 20:36.8. Isabel Overby finished in seventh (21:21.7) and Sofia Gonzalez came in 17th (22:05.6). Jada Foerster came in 22nd (22:56.9) and Ashton Otteson came in 24th (23:02.0). Natalie Kahler was the final finisher for the Bobcats, coming in 43rd (24:57.4).
Tea Area’s Grace Bialas was the top individual finisher with a time of 20:10.7. Tea’s Taylor Boehnke came in third (20:47.9) and Pierre’s Sydney Caven came in fourth (20:48.9) and Huron’s Lily Meyer finished in fifth (21:08.3).
Boys
The Bobcat boys finished in third with 75 points. Pierre won on the boys’ side with 30 points and Tea Area came in second (43). Watertown came in fourth (116), Huron came in fifth (132) and Yankton finished in sixth (137).
Leo Hoppe and Martin Diedrich each had top-10 finishes for the Bobcats. Hoppe came in fifth (18:10.9) and Diedrich came in ninth (18:27.3). Levi Van Zee finished in 17th (19:00.3) and Jorgen Johnson came in 22nd (19:25.1). Jackson Craig was the final finisher for Brookings and he came in 33rd (20:13.2).
Tea Area’s Reid Hammerquist was the top individual finisher with a time of 17:20.8. Pierre filled the rest of the top five with Daniel Mason coming in second (17:31.3), Jim Neddo came in third (17:58.3) and Zaden Crane finishing in fourth (18:06.4).
