Three people were killed and another person was injured in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night southwest of Sisseton.

Names of the four people involved have not yet been released pending notification of family.

According to the Highway Patrol, a southbound car on a Roberts County road lost control and went into the ditch. The car struck an approach, went airborne, hit a wooden post, landed on the driver’s side and started on fire.

Three people, a female, and two males, were pronounced dead at the scene. A male occupant sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by ambulance to the Sisseton hospital and later to a Fargo hospital.

Seatbelt use is under investigation.
