Two men injured in Thursday evening pickup/motorcycle crash in Brookings

Two men are injured in a Thursday evening pickup/motorcycle crash in Brookings.

Brookings police report it happened shortly after 7:00 pm in the 600 block of 22nd Avenue.

A pickup driven by 44-year-old Todd DeWulf of Brookings pulled out of the Wal-Mart parking lot onto 22nd Avenue as a motorcycle, driven by 20-year-old Matthew Maag of Lakewood, CO, was approaching. Maag attempted to swerve to avoid a collision and he and the motorcycle ended up getting wedged under the truck.

The Brookings Fire Department responded and was able to lift the truck off Maag and free him. A passenger on the motorcycle, 21-year-old Jacob Sarahan of Sioux Falls, was thrown from the cycle. Both men sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

DeWulf was not injured.
