Two people injured in Friday morning accident on an icy Highway 14
Two people are injured in a Friday morning accident involving three vehicles on an icy Highway 14 just east of Volga.
Assistant Brookings County Sheriff Scott Sebring says it happened shortly before 6:00 am near the intersection with 466th Avenue.
Sebring says a car driven by 38-year-old Daniel Schauer of Arlington was eastbound when he slid into the ditch.
An SUV driven by 28-year-old Eli Hudgens of White stopped on the shoulder of the road to assist Schauer. While Hudgens was parked, a car driven by 35-year-old Steven Murphy of Arlington tried to to slow but lost control and collided with Hudgens’ SUV as he was exiting the vehicle.
Hudgens was taken to the Brookings Hospital by Brookings Ambulance with unknown injuries.
Murphy was treated and released at the scene. He was cited for over-driving the road conditions.
Schauer was not hurt.
