Brookings police make arrests in two domestic aggravated assault cases

Brookings police report two separate cases of aggravated domestic assault.

On Saturday evening, police were called to a residence on the 1100 block of Pactola Cove. Lt. Marci Gebers says a man had reportedly assaulted a female that he was in a relationship with. She says 50-year-old Jean-Van Lusavuku allegedly slapped the woman, choked her and threatened her with a knife. The woman was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital emergency room. Lusavuku has been charged with aggravated assault domestic.

At about 4:30 Sunday morning, police were called to the 100 block of Second Avenue, South. Gebers says, earlier in the night, a man allegedly entered the residence uninvited.
He went to the bedroom of a female resident, grabbed her and hit her head into the bed frame. He then dragged the woman down the hall. Another resident intervened and the man left. Police later found and arrested 23-year-old Dodge Waldera. He was charged with aggravated assault domestic, first degree burglary and trespassing with intent to eavesdrop. The woman refused medical treatment.
