39 COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota today; active cases continue to fall

 

Thirty-nine new COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday, the total is now 1300. The Department of Health has changed their reporting on state deaths. It says 1159 of the deaths are identified as having been caused by COVID-19. The others are deaths of people who had the disease when they died but it wasn’t necessarily identified as the primary cause of death.

Active cases in Brookings County have increased by 1 to 292. Total cases are up by 34 to 2769. There have now been 24 deaths in Brookings County and there are 2453 recovered cases. The ever hospitalized number is at 95. The County is in the substantial community spread category.

Statewide, active cases dropped by 532 to 10,987. Total cases have gone up by 905 and are now at 92,603. The number of people who have recovered is 80,316. Current hospitalizations have decreased by 23 and are at 412.
