Brookings City Council Election set; Mayor and School Board uncontested

There will be an election for Brookings City Council this year but the Mayoral and School Board races are uncontested. Friday at 5:00 p.m. was the filing deadline for the offices.

Incumbents Wayne Avery and Nick Wendell as well as Al Austreim have all filed for the two City Council seats up this year.

Mayor Ope Niemeyer is uncontested for reelection.

For Brookings School Board, only the two incumbents filed. Keli Books and Debra DeBates will both keep their seats on the School Board.

The City Council Election is set for April 9th.
