Brookings Co. Sheriff’s Office reports theft of copper wire from an Aurora business

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft at a business in Aurora.

Assistant SHeriff Scott Sebring says security footage shows the theft occurred at 9:30 Sunday night at the business on the 100 block of Rylee Road.

Two unknown suspects entered a secure area of the business and stole about 500-pounds of scrap copper wire.

The suspects used a wheelbarrow to load the scrap wire, then moved it using several trips to remove the entire bin of wire. The estimated loss is $1,500.

Area residents are requested to check their private camera systems for suspicious activity during this time.
