COVID-19 cases continue climbing in SD; two new deaths reported in Brookings County

 

Cases of COVID-19 are still climbing in South Dakota.

Three COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday in the Department of Health weekly update. The statewide total is 2931. Two of the deaths were reported in Brookings County.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by eight to 105. Thirty-eight new cases reported since June 8, the total is 8304. Recovered cases are at 8145. There have been 54 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 373 to 2546. Total cases increase by 972 in the last week to 242,298. There are 236,821 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by 3 to 52.

Seventy-three percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Sixty percent have completed a vaccine series and 33-percent have received a booster.
