Eight COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday; active cases continue downward trend

Eight COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday. The statewide total is now 2766.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 34 to 275. There were 6 new cases reported Thursday, raising the total to 8044. Recovered cases are at 7721. There have been 48 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 626 to 9145. Total cases increase by 393 to 234,084. There are 222,173 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 17 to 223.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-eight percent have completed a vaccine series and 32-percent have received a booster.
