House lost to fire in Bushnell

Several fire departments respond to a fire that destroyed a home early Thursday morning in Bushnell.

Aurora, Bruce, Brookings, Elkton, White, Sinai and Volga Fire Departments were all on scene as were Brookings County Sheriff’s Dep-artment, Brookings Ambulance and Brookings County Emergency Management.

It was reported about 12:10 a.m. on Railroad Avenue.

Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebing says a resident was in bed when they observed smoke inside the residence and quickly got out. When crews arrived, the
residence was completely engulfed. They were able to extinguish the flames.

The Red Cross found temporary assistance for the residents.

The home is a complete loss. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

One of the residents was treated and released at the scene for smoke inhalation.
