Lightning strike damages Volga home

The Volga Fire Department and Brookings County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home that had been hit by lightning.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says it had happened about 7:30 Saturday evening, causing an unknown amount of damage to the structure and to the home’s electrical system. The residence is located on the 800 block of 6th St.

Crews were called a couple hours after the incident and there was no fire when they arrived.
