Man charged with assaulting two Brookings police officers

Two Brookings police officers were assaulted in a Wednesday night incident

Police Sergeant Joel Perry says officers were called by a business to deal with a man causing a disturbance at about 10:45 pm on the 700 block of 22nd Avenue.

When police arrived, the man had left. Officers located him a short time later on the 2100 block of 22nd Avenue where he was trying to enter a residence.

When confronted by police, the man was uncooperative and put up a fight. One of the two officers was injured and required medical treatment to his hand after the suspect attempted a head butt.

Twenty-two-year-old Enos Horned Eagle, current address unknown, was arrested and charged with two counts of simple assault against a police officer, resisting arrest and obstruction.
