Motorcyclist killed in Yankton Co. crash identified as Irene man

A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash near Volin.

The South Dakota Highway patrol reports a motorcycle driven by 65-year-old Gordon J. Sorenson of Irene was traveling behind a semi tractor/trailer. A septic tanker truck was traveling the same direction and was in front of the semi. The tanker truck slowed to turn into a field. Sorensen attempted to pass the semi and struck the side of the septic truck as it was turning.

Sorensen was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the septic truck was not hurt.
