BROOKINGS (10-30-26) — The Brookings Beacon newspaper officially has a new home.
Yesterday (October 29), the Brookings Regional Growth Alliance celebrated ribbon-cutting for the Beacon’s brick-and-mortar, downtown Brookings location.
Beacon manager Editor Josh Linehan said there’s something magical about downtown Brookings… “I got my first haircut right (over) there, right? I used to get Nick Burgers with my dad right there. Like it’s a special place. It’s home. It’s our home town, and it’s just been a dream come true to get a space down here. People are already starting to walk in, and wander in, and ask questions — and that’s what you love about it. Just down here and being a part of the community.”
The Beacon is less than a year old, and Linehan said he never thought he’d have downtown offices this quickly… “The plan has all been very sped-up, and that’s just a testament to the support from everyone in town — you know, the advertisers, the readers, the subscribers. Everybody has kind of bought in, and we’re racing as fast as we can get it done.”
The Brookings Beacon offices are located at 406 Fifth Street — across from the Post Office and just down the street from Nick’s Hamburgers. Find them online at https://brookingsbeacon.com/.
