BROOKINGS (8-26-26) — A Brookings County grand jury returns an indictment on charges of child pornography and rape.
In a press release issued Wednesday (August 26), Brookings County State’s Attorney Dan Nelson said Daniel J. Groon was indicted following a Division of Criminal Investigation search of his residence and electronic devices.
Nelson said investigators identified a child from 2008 — who is now an adult — who was located, interviewed and disclosed allegations of sexual abuse.
Groon was subsequently arrested, and his bond set at $50 thousand. He is due in court Monday, August 31 at 9 a.m.
