Brookings (10-14-26) — On Thursday, October 22 at 6pm, the Brookings Public Library will host a historical reenactment entitled “Abraham Lincoln: A New Birth of Freedom”.
Celebrate the United States of America’s 250th birthday with a live historical reenactment of our nation’s 16th president. Hear a firsthand account from Abraham Lincoln himself of the history of the United States of America during his time, from his childhood on the frontier to the twelve turbulent years from 1854 to 1865, which nearly destroyed our young nation but instead eventually resulted in a “new birth of freedom”. The program will be followed by time for Q&A and photos.
Lincoln will be portrayed by Kevin Wood. He has made appearances at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, among many other places and events. He is a lifetime member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters and currently serves as its President.
More information about these events and other upcoming programs can be found on the Brookings Public Library website calendar (brookingslibrary.org) or on the Library’s Facebook page (@bkglib). The mission of the Brookings Public Library is to inspire curiosity and discovery, advance knowledge, and strengthen the Brookings community through diverse and inclusive collections, services, and programs.
