LAKE COUNTY, SD (9-10-26) — An Astoria pedestrian is killed in a single-vehicle crash near Ramona.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol said it happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, two miles northeast of Ramona near the intersection of 223rd Street and 451st Avenue.
A 70-year old Astoria man was working with a riding mower that had become separated from a tailgate-mounted carrier. He was struck by westbound pickup truck driven by a 17-year old Nunda man.
The highway patrol says the Astoria man sustained fatal injuries while the Nunda man was uninjured.
Names of those involved have not yet been released.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
