BROOKINGS COUNTY (9-11-26) — The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of intentional damage to a soybean field.
Deputies say it was reported September 9 and likely took place sometime between September 2 and September 3 at a field on 466th Avenue near 203rd Street.
The sheriff’s office said they found someone had driven off the roadway and through the field for nearly a half mile, causing approximately $800 worth of damage. Deputies say tracks indicate the vehicle traveled north after exiting the field.
This is the second recent report of intentional damage to a field of crops. On September 7, sheriff’s deputies investigated a report of a vehicle intentionally driving through a corn field along 466th Avenue near 220th Street three separate times, causing an estimated $500 damage.
