Brookings, SD (9-9-26) — On Monday, September 14 at 6pm, the Brookings Public Library will host award-winning acoustic music duo Curtis & Loretta. Come enjoy their engaging performance, “Singing Tales of Truth.” With tight vocal harmonies plus mandocello, folk harp, guitars, banjo and ukulele, the husband-and-wife duo sing of real people who have made indelible marks on our world.
Both original and traditional songs are featured in this show presented by Curtis Teague and Loretta Simonet. Most of the originals were written by Loretta. Backed by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, she searched out “unsung heroes,” people who went through big challenges in their lives and came out stronger for it. She interviewed them, and crafted their stories into poignant songs. Throughout the concert, Curtis & Loretta speak of the people they interviewed, how they found them, how and why they were touched by these people, and why all of us relate so much to story songs.
