Nine COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota in the past week; active cases fall

 

Nine COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday in the Department of Health weekly update — The statewide total is now 2993.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 13 to 19. Thirty new cases were reported since August 24th, the total is 8,765. Recovered cases are at 8,688. There have been 58 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, a big drop in active cases — down by 397 to 717. Total cases increase by 1,292 in the last week to 257,547. There are 253,837 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations hold at 105.

Seventy-five percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Sixty-one percent have completed a vaccine series and 34-percent have received a booster.
