Noem signs executive order giving additional flexibility to schools

Governor Kristi Noem this week signed an executive order to give flexibility to schools and some organizations as South Dakota continues to fight the spread of COVID-19.

The suspensions will continue through the duration of the state of emergency.

Among the moves ordered by the governor: school evacuation drills and cardiopulmonary surveys are suspended as are performance evaluations for experienced teachers and administrators. Also,
accreditation reviews for schools scheduled to be reviewed this year are suspended.

The governor also lifted the requirements for cooperatives, rural electric cooperatives, and nonprofits to meet in person, allowing their boards to meet electronically.
