Rangel resigns from City of Brookings CFO position

City of Brookings Chief Financial Officer Erick Rangel has resigned after four years in the position.

Rangel became the city’s frst CFO in January 2019, bringing nearly 15 years of private-sector experience.

City Manager Paul Briseno says Rangel “brought private-sector ideologies to his position.” Briseno says he has provided exceptional leadership to the Finance Department, the Liquor Store and the Swiftel Center, all of which he was responsible for overseeing.

Rangel said moving on from the City was a difficult career-driven decision for him. His new job in the private sector will allow him to continue to live in Brookings.

Briseno said a national search for the next CFO will begin in a few weeks.

Rangel’s resignation is effective February 17th.
