Sisseton man pleads not guilty to 1992 murder

A federal grand jury has indicted a Sisseton man for First Degree Murder in the death of a minor more than 30-years ago.

Fifty-seven-year-old Jay Adams, Jr. appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge this week and pleaded not guilty to the Indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is mandatory life in custody

The Indictment alleges that on or about September of 1992, in Roberts County, Adams killed a girl by inflicting fatal blunt force trauma.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribal Police Department and the FBI.

A trial date has not been set.
