SDSU GOLF…The South Dakota State women’s golf team is tied for fifth and Teresa Toscano is tied for first after the opening round of the NM State Aggie Invitational on Monday.

   The Jackrabbits fired a score of 305 (+17) to tie with California Baptist on the day. Host team New Mexico State and Northern Arizona are tied for first to lead the 17-team field with 296 (+8).

   Toscano shot two-under par (70) in the first 18 holes and is tied with three other players for the lead in the 100-participant field. The senior posted birdies on holes 8, 9, 10 and 12.

   Mia Seeman and Cassidy Laidlaw are tied for 28th with 77 (+5). Lani Potter shot an 81 (+9), while Sydney Bormann recorded a score of 84 (+12) to round out the South Dakota State lineup.

SUMMIT MBB POLL…South Dakota State men’s basketball earned two first-place votes and was tabbed fifth in the 2019-20 Summit League men’s basketball preseason poll, released Monday.

   The poll is voted on by league coaches, sports information directors and select media.

   North Dakota State is picked first, with 23 first-place votes and 526 points.  South Dakota, Oral Roberts, Omaha and the Jacks round out the top five.

   Purdue-Fort Wayne, Western Illinois, North Dakota and Denver round out the poll.  

 

SUMMIT WBB POLL…The Summit League released its women’s basketball preseason poll Monday, with South Dakota State being tabbed second. Tagyn Larson and Myah Selland were named to the All-Summit League Preseason First Team, while Tylee Irwin earned All-Summit League Preseason Second Team accolades.

   The poll is voted on by Summit League coaches, sports information directors and select media

   South Dakota received 20 first-place votes and 527 votes to lead the poll.  SDSU, Denver, Oral Roberts and Western Illinois finish out the top five. North Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha and Purdue-Fort Wayne make up the rest of the poll.
