Street paving under way in Brookings

Construction has begun on the Brookings asphalt paving project. It includes milling the top layer of asphalt from the street and replacing it with new asphalt.

The contractor anticipates they will be working for about three weeks, depending on the weather.

The streets affected are:

3rd Street between Medary Avenue and 17th Avenue
4th Street between 14th Avenue and 15th Avenue
8th Street between 14th Avenue and 20th Avenue
20th Avenue between 6th Street and 8th Street
Larson Park parking lot

Vehicles should not be parked on these streets during the milling and paving work and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction. Vehicles that are parked on these streets during construction will be subject to towing at the property owner’s expense.

In most instances, the streets will be open to traffic but lanes and lane widths may be reduced at times. The Larson Park parking lot will be closed to all traffic.
