Two people killed in car/moped collision in Custer

Two people died Tuesday morning in a two vehicle crash in Custer.

Names have not yet been released.

The Highway Patrol says a car was stopped at a stop sign on a Custer Street at its intersection with Highway 16A. A moped was traveling eastbound on the highway toward the street. The car pulled out in front of the moped which could not avoid the crash and struck the front driver’s side of the car. The driver and passenger of the moped were thrown from the vehicle.

The 67-year-old man driving the moped sustained fatal injuries as did his 74-year-old female passenger.

The 78-year-old woman driving the car was not injured. A 79-year old male passenger was also uninjured.
