Volga Fire Dept. fights two fires in just over an hour
The Volga Fire Department responds to two fires in just over an hour.
Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says the first call came in shortly before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and involved an SUV on fire at a residence the 200 block of Highway 14 in Volga. The vehicle had recently been driven and parked between two residences. After several minutes, the owner discovered the SUV was on fire and was damaging both residences. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The cause is not known at this time. Damage to the vehicle and owner’s residence is estimated to be $1,000. Damage to the neighboring residence is estimated at $1,000.
A tractor fire was reported at 6:05 p.m. in a field north of 5th Street in Volga. Upon arrival, crews discovered a tractor being used to unload hay bales caught fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished. A damage estimate is not available.
