Yankton implements mask mandate

The Yankton City Commission votes to implement a mask mandate in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the city.

Commissioners voted seven to two in favor of the mandate in a special meeting Wednesday night.

The mandate requires people inside buildings to wear masks when social distancing is not possible. However, there is no penalty for violating the mandate.

The mandate becomes effective Friday.
